»Hamas Cinema Gaza Strip« is one of Muslimgauze’s most cohesive and sonically refined releases. With a more cinematic approach than previous works, the album weaves sparse, percussive rhythms with field recordings, sampled dialogue, and ambient textures to create an immersive and politically charged soundscape.

Engineered in part by longtime collaborator John Delf, the production is notably polished. The title track is a standout—blending live drumming, reverberating strings, and distant animal calls into a hypnotic, mystical composition. Elsewhere, tracks drift into ambient-dub territory, recalling »Gun Aramaic«, with »Jerusalem Artichoke« injecting a burst of raw energy. Only »Rent a Hookah« feels overly abrasive compared to the album’s otherwise nuanced textures.

Throughout, Muslimgauze fuses minimal kick/snare percussion with Arabic and Indian string instruments, Arabic voice samples, spoken English, and ambient street noise. Echoes and delays lend a subtle dub character, while occasional deep basslines and whispered vocals add a haunting, electronic edge.

Composed less than a year before Bryn Jones’s passing, »Hamas Cinema Gaza Strip« reflects both the harshness and emotional depth of his engagement.
