As part of the 1990 Sound +Vision tour David Bowie stopped off in Tokyo for a pair of concerts at the Tokyo Dome. The second of these shows, on May 16th was recorded for broadcast on Japanese radio. The Sound + Vision tour came at a time of artistic uncertainty for Bowie, with his most recent material largely being considered to be somewhat substandard. However, the greatest hits Sound+Vision boxset had just been released in 1989, and Bowie viewed this as a way to draw a line under his previous work, by performing his classics one more time, and then never performing them again. He believed that by removing his past, he could become artistically free in the future. The result, was a tour packed with classic songs, all performed with that typical Bowie panache. This recording includes such legendary songs as 'Space Oddity', 'Ashes To Ashes' and 'Heroes'. The version of 'Let's Dance' in particular posseses a sharp punky edge that combines with the song's natural funk to create a particularly propulsive attack
